How Daily Massage and Spa Treatments Contribute to Your Overall Well-Being

WHY YOU NEED A DAILY MASSAGE AND SPA FOR HEALTH

If you work on a computer daily or use your smartphone too much, a daily massage helps in avoiding injuries such as carpal tunnel syndrome. Harvard Medical School recognizes that massage can reduce pain and physically restore you.

National Institute of  Health says massage reduces stress, promotes relaxation, and improve moods, just a few minutes of gentle everyday massage is enough and can make more of a difference than one hour every few weeks.

Here's how you can master a DIY massage:

MASSAGE THE HEAD AND NECK
First, then apply oil to all parts of the body before you begin the rest of the massage, This will allow the oil to be o the body for the maximum amount of time before taking a shower. The head and scalp are the most important areas in the massage, so spend the most amount of time there. Use long, back and forth strokes on the long bones in your arms and legs, use circular motions over your joints, heart, and stomach.

MASSAGE YOUR FEET
massage your feet with a round small ball. If you find yourself with sore feet from running around or standing all day, soothe them with a small ball under your foot, just under the arch or indentation. Then, roll your foot around on the ball in one direction, then the other. This simple massage not only stimulates the foot muscles but also improves circulation and reduces pain.

WRIST PRESSURE
If you are typing on a keyboard all day and suffer from sore wrists, simply stretch your right hand at your desk, start by holding your left hand in from of you with your palm facing upwards. Massage your pressure point on the wrist with oil every day for 4 minutes. This will improve blood circulation.

ABDOMINAL MASSAGE
Boost your immune system. With your immune system centered in your gut, your health is truly in your hands when you massage your stomach. It gives you time to reflect and push away negative thoughts.

HUG YOURSELF
hug yourself to release backpressure. Start by wrapping your arms around yourself, as if reaching for opposite shoulders, and pull gently, feeling a nice stretch across your upper back. Switch arms. Rub your shoulders and move them backward. Massage your knuckles. You will see your arm mobility become better.

 THE RIGHT OIL
A daily massage with the right oil is anti-ageing. Says Dr. Piyush Juneja, Ayurveda consultant, "if you have dry skin use sesame, almond, avocado, or bhringaraj oil. People with sensitive skin should use olive, sunflower, coconut, or ghe. If you have oily skin, use stimulating oil like mustard or light oil such as flaxseed, corn, or canola. For a good massage sesame oil is the king of oils, rich in linoleic acid, anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory ad antioxidant properties. If you want to increase your stamina try bala thailam. Those who suffer from joint pain, massage with mahanarayan oil which is made from 20+ ayurvedic herbs. In summer, eucalyptus oil has a cooling effect on the body.
